Exploring AI in Education, Research, and Business: Opportunities and Challenges for Africa and Europe
The upcoming ANSA conference will focus on a timely and crucial topic: AI in Education, Research, and Business – Opportunities and Challenges for Africa and Europe. As artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models and generative AI, becomes increasingly accessible worldwide, it offers transformative potential for productivity, education, research, and economic development. The conference will examine how these technologies can benefit sectors ranging from healthcare and agriculture to business, while also addressing challenges such as high computational demands, biases in AI models, and unequal access between the Global North and Africa. A key goal is to promote responsible, ethical, and context-sensitive AI use through cross-continental collaboration, highlighting both successes and lessons learned from Africa, Europe, and projects connecting the two regions. Accessibility, ethical concerns, and societal impacts—including on labor markets—will be central themes.
The conference will feature keynote lectures and participant presentations. While a thematic link to AI is encouraged for participant contributions, it is not mandatory, ensuring inclusivity for a wide range of research and professional fields.
Keynote Lecture:
- Bridging the AI Divide: Strategies for a More Inclusive Future by Dr. Julius Sechang Mboli will explore how AI can help close global divides in education and business, emphasizing opportunities for AI-assisted learning, productivity gains, and innovative business models, while tackling biases, energy consumption, and accessibility issues, and fostering ethical, cross-continental collaboration.
- We are honored to welcome Mrs. Nkemdilim Uwaje Begho to our ANSA conference. Drawing on her expertise in digital transformation and tech innovation, she will share insights on how AI can drive inclusive, ethical solutions in education, research, and business across Africa and Europe, inspiring cross-continental collaboration.
Participant Presentations:
- Joseph Yankyera Kusi simulated anaerobic digestion of agricultural and slaughterhouse waste using Python models, achieving high predictive accuracy.
- Laurenz Plassmann presented practical examples of AI applications in environmentally conscious architectural design.
- Hassan Adam integrated geospatial data with AI to assess war-related impacts on Sudan’s gum Arabic belt, supporting sustainable land and resource management.
- Osée N’tcha examined Africa’s technological dependence and advocated for co-creative, profit-oriented partnerships with Europe.
- Richard Michael Blay discussed transforming anatomy education in Ghana through digital technologies and anticipated AI-driven innovations.
- Charles Nouledo offered insights into AI coverage and discourse in African and international media, highlighting key examples for discussion.
This conference promises a rich exchange of ideas at the intersection of AI, education, research, and business, providing a platform for both reflection and innovation across Africa and Europe.
