Was ist das BoA?
Unser Board of Advisors ist im Wortlaut der Satzung unter §6 (b) so definiert:
„Das Board of Advisors (BoA) ist ein Zusammenschluss von beratenden
Unterstützern des Vereins, welche selbst nicht Mitglied des Vereins sind. Das
BoA dient der Ausrichtung und Weiterentwicklung der Vereinsaktivitäten
und steht den einzelnen Mitgliedern als Ansprechpartner zur Verfügung. Die
Mitgliedschaft im BoA wird durch die Mitgliederversammlung bestimmt.
Mitglieder des BoA sind keine Vereinsmitglieder und daher beitragsbefreit.
Ihnen kommen keine Mitgliedschaftsrechte zu.”
In anderen Worten, im BoA wollen wir gerne Menschen versammeln, die ANSA wohlgesonnen und verbunden sind, sich mit den Vereinszwecken von ANSA identifizieren, und die uns aktiv unterstützen wollen, auch ohne formelles Vereinsmitglied zu sein.
Wer ist im BoA?
Hast du Ideen, welche Person für unser Board of Advisors (BoA) geeignet wäre? Wir sind den aktuellen Mitgliedern sehr dankbar, dass sie uns unterstützen, allerdings sind diese ausnahmslos ‘weiß’, deutsch und männlich. Wir streben ein diverseres BoA an, d.h. Vorschläge für weibliche oder non-binary Personen sind besonders willkommen. Das gleiche gilt für Personen afrikanischer Abstammung oder andere PoC.

Cay ETZOLD
▪ Current activity / institution
Cay Etzold is currently working in Tbilisi/Georgia for the European Union as Resident Twinning Advisor for a Twinning Project. In Autumn he will join the Headquarter at DAAD again.
▪ Area of research or work
Cay Etzold works since three decades at the German Academic Exchange Service in different sections mainly for developing countries. His entirely commitment was and is still to develop and promote the accessibility for young scholars to newest research & areas of needed fields to be developed further like for example renewable energies, infrastructure or regional planning and/or resources management only to mention few among more others interdisciplinary fields considering the SDGs.
▪ Regional experiences (Focus countries in Africa)
His regional expertise lies in Eastern Africa with main focus on Kenya and Ethiopia and in Western Africa with main focus on Ghana. He has visited many African countries and its universities.
▪ Most important professional stations (approx. 5)
Cay Etzold worked at the DAAD for postgraduate courses for developing countries in the nineties. He was Director of the Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa in Kenya from 2001 till 2005 and afterwards he became Head of Section Cooperation & Projects in HE and concentrated on higher education partnership projects, promoted the alumni work of the German universities and in the region through new developed alumni programmes and alumni projects. From 2011 till 2014 he was Head of the Section Eastern & Southern Africa and from 2015 till 2019 Head of Section Scholarship Programmes for Africa.

Ron HERRMANN
▪ Current activity / institution
Dr. Ron Herrmann serves as the Academic Coordinator of the Institute of African Studies (IAS) and of the Bavarian Research Institute of African Studies (BRIAS) at the University of Bayreuth .
▪ Area of research or work
He holds a PhD in Political Sciences, Sociology and Communications (WWU Münster, Germany), a M.A. Degree in International Relations (Keele University, UK) and a European Master Degree in Human Rights and Democratization (Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy).
His main academic focus rests on conflict analysis and transformation, civil peacebuilding, democratic governance and sustainable development.
▪ Most important professional stations (approx. 5)
Over the course of his prolific career as an academic, lecturer and senior expert for applied sciences he coordinated the establishment of the European Inter-University Centre in Italy, the curricula, human resource and capacity development at the University of Peace in Austria, the UN Staff College in Italy and the Peace University in Costa Rica.
He served as a diplomat for the German Foreign Office and for various organizations, like the EU, Interpeace, IOM, GIZ, MSF, UNDP, UNDPKO and UNHCR in senior managerial and policy-making positions.

He gained his distinct expertise on African Affairs in Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, Ruanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan (Dafur), Zambia and Zimbabwe.
